Two guesses as to what kind of food the replacement of Aunt Bea’s restaurant will be serving. Here’s a hint, it’s called Fratello’s.

That’s right, North Charleston is home to a new “Italian Tavern.” Formerly of La Tabella on James Island, Chef Kevin Bruntz says all of the dishes have a “home cooking” feel and use conventional Italian techniques. For lunch, Fratello’s is serving an array of sandwiches and classic pasta dishes, ranging from $8-$12. Dinner presents the choice of several courses, beginning with antipasti like a salad of house pulled mozzarella or sautéed shrimp and mussels. In the “Entrate” list, you can find traditional dishes from regions all over Italy, like Bruntz’s own “one-pound” lasagna. Entrees range from $13-$19. Homemade desserts include a mocha ganache panna cotta and a rich chocolate cookie with Frangelico caramel. The restaurant is now open.walacartealacartealacarte
