If you haven’t made Valentine’s reservations yet, time is ticking quickly. Whether you want to try something new, or return to a favorite spot, there are plenty of sure-to-please-your-sweetie menus available in town this Thursday. Looking for something a bit less fancy (or, um, expensive)? You’ve got options too.
For Valentine’s Day, High Thyme is offering their tried and true regular menu with a few additional specials. Guests can try the special sweet potato curry soup, followed by appetizer choices of jumbo lump crab cakes with avocado and a smoked jalapeno tomato puree, crispy fried oysters with garlic quick pickles and honey dill aioli, or lobster tail with scallops, apple fennel salad, and tarragon champagne vinaigrette. After such a tempting appetizer spread, you’re probably wondering what else could possibly follow. The Valentine’s Day entrées are grilled veal chop with roasted root vegetables and a cider bacon demi- glaze, shrimp and crab risotto, or braised lamb shank with spinach farrotto and natural jus. It should come as no surprise that reservations are strongly advised.
Most people think wine and chocolate are the perfect couple, but some folks say those two are no match for beer and chocolate. At 7:30 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Christophe Artisan is partnering with Westbrook Brewing to offer a tasting of six beer and chocolate combinations for $20 per person. Participants will be led through the tasting process by chocolate genius Christophe and brewmaster Edward Westbrook. Space is limited.
Everyone knows what a romantic pasta dinner with Italian wines and candlelight can do for a relationship — even if you’re neither a Lady nor a Tramp. The Glass Onion is offering an Italian-themed Valentine’s dinner menu with live jazz as a backdrop to the feast. The three-course dinner will take participants on a tour of Italy with options like local beef carpaccio, porchetta, and almond panna cotta. it’s $40 per person, and there will also be an optional Italian wine pairing for an additional $20. If the way to someone’s heart is really through their stomach, then S.N.O.B. is where you’ll want to spend Valentine’s Day. Their special holiday menu is fixed at two courses for $48 per person, and it includes things like lobster bisque, roast rack of lamb, sautéed duck breast, and much more. We’re most excited about the dessert options like chocolate mousse cake and banana cream pie that can be added to the two-course meal for and extra $7 per person. Check out their full menu online. Again, reservations are a must.
