Back in February, two local Clear Channel radio stations — country station WEZL 103.5 and the family-friendly Y 102.5 — hosted their annual Cares for Kids Radiothon. They handed over their studio to the good folks at the MUSC Children’s Hospital, who brought patients and families on the air to talk about their experiences. In some cases, those tales were set to popular tunes to create “story songs.” Over the course of 26 hours, listeners called in, and the radiothon managed to raise almost $270,000.
Now in its fifth year, the event has collected about $750,000 for the hospital. Keep your ears open for next year’s event.
