Earlier today, the S.C. Budget Conference Committee finished their deliberations on the state budget, which included the S.C. Arts Commission’s requests to bring their state funding close to pre-recession levels. The details have been released, and the state’s arts community seems to have made out fairly well.

The SCAC received funding for two of their three requests:

$1,000,000 in recurring funds for statewide grants to local arts organizations, schools, and other community arts provider
$25,000 in one-time funding for planning of a Cultural Districts Designation Program

The request that was not funded was $30,000 in recurring funds to support professional development for state artists and entrepreneurs.
