This weekend there are plenty of events that will have you traveling to a different time period or place or event changing into a different character entirely. Make sure to grab family and friends for a great time on the town.
Friday Friday is Carolina Day, which celebrates the American victory at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June 28, 1776. Step back in time with free Revolutionary War demonstrations and living history programs all day at Fort Moultrie.
Later on in the night, head over to Elite Dance International Studio for a prehistoric dance party. Dress up in your best prehistoric clothes whether it is a dinosaur costume or hammer pants and enjoy food and drinks while you participate in a tango class. Admission is only $10 per prehistoric creature.
If you prefer to be a spectator, check out Sherlock Holmes and the Charleston History Mystery at the Black Fedora Mystery Theater. Join Holmes on a historical city tour of Charleston’s past and present without ever leaving your seat. As always, the event is kid friendly so bring the whole family.
Maybe you just want to go back a year? Then hit up Party at the Point with Elise Testone and take it on back to 2012.
Saturday Start your Saturday by experiencing a different culture with an African drum and dance class at Dancefx. Then, take your favorite princess to a Princess Party at the Charleston Museum. Each little member of royalty will create a tiara, receive a cupcake, and can have her picture taken with Tinkerbell. After she is dubbed into royalty, take a stroll through the museum.
To see a spectacular journey, join Jivamukti Yoga in Mount Pleasant for a screening of One Track Heart: The Story of Krisha Das.
