New bridge bike markings? – P&C columnist David Quick reports on an incident on the pedestrian walkway (P&C) last week, calling for increased signage and sidewalk markings in an effort to make the bridge safer for cyclists and walkers to coexist on the bridge.
Taxi stands – Charleston City Council will debate a proposal tonight (Live5) to install taxi stands along Market Street and declare the street a “no flag” district (P&C), where riders will be forced to board taxis in the designated areas.
Stand your ground – A recent decision by DHEC overruling its original recommendations that allows Folly Beach property owners build seawalls to protect homes is catching flak from some (P&C) who say it contradicts the spirit of state beach management regulations.
Old City Jail – The Daughters of the American Revolution announced a $9,400 grant (P&C) to the American College of the Building Arts to house 600 books, catalogs, and other building/arts materials.
Carlos Dunlap – North Charleston City Councilman Elliott Summey congratulated Cincinatti Bengals defensive end and Ft. Dorchester grad on scoring a $40 million contract extension (ABC4) ahead of training camp later this month.
