Around 1 a.m. on Saturday night, a small fire broke out in the kitchen but was swiftly extinguished thanks to the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department. Around 35 staff and patrons were evacuated, with no reported injuries.Don’t fret- the beloved bar and grill promises to reopen, potentially as soon as this weekend. A crew has already begun repairs, and hopes are high to have the renovation complete ahead of their seven to 10 day estimate. Vickery’s general manager, Geoff Wisdom, says “it’ll take cleaning, really, more than anything,” to get the restaurant back up and running. He claims that resulting smoke and water caused more damage than the actual fire. At this time, there is no estimate for the cost of the damages and repairs. This week’s Sunset Party with the Bridge at 105.5 has been rescheduled to Wed., Aug. 7, with plans to celebrate Vickery’s reopening at that time. The party series features live acoustic music, drink specials, and corn hole tournaments on the last Friday of the month. Despite the weekend’s unplanned excitement, Wisdom promises that Vickery’s will return “better and badder” than before.
