For some of us, Richard Wagner’s epic four-part opera The Ring Cycle just brings to mind Elmer Fudd in a Viking helmet singing “Kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit, kill the wabbit.” It’s probably time to change that.

This September renowned soprano Lori Phillips, who just finished her run as Brünnhilde in the Seattle Opera’s production of The Ring Cycle, will visit the College of Charleston to perform a concert of songs and opera works by Franz Schubert and Wagner. She’ll be accompanied by CofC pianist and professor Robin Zemp.

Phillips has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, as well as opera companies in Arizona, Hawaii, Boston, Michigan, Vancouver, and many others. The recital is part of CofC’s Monday Night Concert series and will be held on Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Simons Center for the Arts. Tickets are $10 and free for CofC students.
