The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, which will be held Feb. 14-16 next year, has selected Chad Poppleton as its featured artist. Poppleton’s Western upbringing shows in his paintings — his subjects, from elk to sheep to swans, are often depicted in wild, Rocky Mountain settings full of soaring, snow-covered peaks and wide open skies. The artist grew up in Cache Valley, Utah on a farm and ranch with his father, who was also an artist.

One of Poppleton’s paintings was selected for the 2014 festival poster, which are available for $30. Check the SEWE website, sewe.com, for more info.
