Thomas Ravenel and Kathryn Dennis went through a pregnancy scare on an early episode of Southern Charm (who could forget the late-night, booze-filled drug store stop for a pregnancy test in the fourth episode), but news broke this week that the couple welcomed a baby girl. And happily. Ravenel says that after the scare both he and Dennis knew that they “absolutely” wanted to start a family. He goes on to tell Bravo’s The Dish blog that “after we had wrapped up shooting in Charleston, we had both decided we wanted to have a baby for real. We both love each other and care about each other, so we said, ‘Let’s do this!’”

And do this they did. Kensington Calhoun Ravenel was born on March 24 in West Palm Beach, Fla. According to T-Rav, Kathryn took to being a mother quickly. “She has tremendous motherly instincts,” he says. “She’s been constantly reading books about babies and doing her homework. She is all over her new responsibilities. She has the energy and the mindset to make sure the baby is well taken care of. I’ve really grown to respect and admire her.”

“It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever been a part of. I’m already in love with my little girl, and I’m so proud of Kathryn for the poise and maturity she is showing as a mother,” Ravenel said in an email to the City Paper.

Despite being a little sleep deprived — and getting used to some crying — mother, father, and daughter are all doing well. And in typical show business style, Ravenel dropped some hints about the future, but not too many. “Eventually I’d like to get married. All I can say is stay tuned,” he teases. Is someone fishing for a spinoff series?
