Boy wonder Sean Brock is opening a new Charleston restaurant. The Neighborhood Dining Group and Brock released the news today that their latest spot will open this summer. The place doesn’t have a name yet, but we’re told it will be adjacent to McCrady’s on East Bay Street and “will have a fun atmosphere, affordable menu, and casual service.” The release goes on to say that the menu will be inspired by the food and culture of Mexico.
Given Brock’s love of tacos — he once said Nashville’s El Tapatio taqueria’s barrel smoker “smells like freedom” — we’re guessing a place with chorizo, chicken, beef, and tripe tacos and plenty of micheladas could be in the works. But, as we reported in the most recent issue of Dish, in Charleston taco prices run the gamut, so we’ll just have to see what affordable really means to arguably Charleston’s most famous chef.
