Beardcat’s Sweet Shop — not to be confused with the cat beard meme (think insta-tabby facial hair) — opens Friday. The Sullivan’s Island shop is from the same team as Jacques Larson’s latest restaurant, The Obstinate Daughter (which we gave a stellar review today), and will offer a whole cat-alog (see what we did there?) of chilled treats, from 10 flavors of gelato to ice cream sandwiches, milkshakes, floats, gelato sundaes, and an array of pastries too made in-house by Wild Olive’s pastry chef Caroline Sherman.

The whimsical logo is credited to architect Reggie Gibson who found a more than 100 year old portrait of an old sailor guy with a cat in his beard. You know what they say about sailors with cats selling gelato?

Yeah, us neither.
