Former McCrady’s chef de cuisine Jeremiah Langhorne gets some Washington Post love

Jeremiah Langhorne’s new D.C. restaurant isn’t even open yet and already The Washington Post is asking, “Will he be the Mid-Atlantic’s answer to René Redzepi?”

That was the headline today in a new ongoing blog series focused on the former McCrady’s chef de cuisine. Earlier this spring Langhorne, along with former McCrady’s staffer and business partner Alex Zink (husband of Ashley Zink, former Charleston Wine + Food Festival Director of Communications), left Charleston for the capital city to work on opening their yet-to-be named restaurant, and apparently the anticipation is building.

The piece introduces readers to Langhorne and retraces his start from working at McDonald’s in high school, to becoming a Brock fanboy, to staging at Noma (ranked as the best restaurant in the world by Restaurant magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014) in Copenhagen with Denmark’s patron saint of foraging, Redzepi. And while the story is bold in its advance coverage of the chef, we think it’s deserved. After ably manning the McCrady’s ship in Brock’s frequent absence — while the James Beard Award-winner was filming his acclaimed Mind of a Chef series, and more — Langhorne, at just 29-years-old, has proven himself.
