Three weeks after initial reports surfaced of a report detailing alleged verbal abuse by CofC basketball coach Doug Wojcik, and a day after the school’s Board of Trustees met in executive session for an hour and additional allegations triggered a second investigation, leadership from the school or its athletic department has still made no comment on the status of the third-year head coach, who would be owed more than $1 million if he’s fired without cause. In a note to campus community members yesterday, new CofC President Glenn McConnell did disclose that the school is no longer persuing a merger with MUSC, but will rather expand the school’s studies to look at offering doctoral degrees. [ABC 4]

DSS officials returned to the Statehouse Wednesday to talk with lawmakers on an agency oversight committee about ongoing needs at the agency to address reported cases of abuse and neglect, including a call for 200 additional caseworkers. [The State]
