In Tuesday’s midterm election, Republicans maintained control of every statewide office. Republican Gov. Nikki Haley won a resounding victory over her repeat Democratic challenger, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, earning 56 percent of the vote compared to Sheheen’s 41 percent.
Another facet of the election: Not a single incumbent in a statewide or federal office was defeated. Among South Carolina’s state leadership and Congressional delegation, only one Democrat, incumbent U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, won an election.
Here are the unofficial winners, with 42 of 46 counties reporting, according to the State Election Commission. Visit scvotes.org for complete results.
