On Wed. Jan. 14, Redux artist Morgan Cole is hosting the Starving Artist Party, a solo show of her paintings, at Social Wine Bar at 188 East Bay St. downtown. Cole, whoโ€™s a graduate of Clemson University with a BFA in studio art, will be showing a series of about 30 pieces, all oil on panel or canvas. โ€œThis body of work was inspired by the aged and weathered concrete on the Charleston peninsula,โ€ she says.

The paintings are in a wide range of sizes and range in price from $30 to $650. โ€œMost of the paintings at the show will be contemporary paintings which show the formal qualities of paint,โ€ Cole says. โ€œThink drip lines, splatters, purposeful brushstrokes. But I also will have another set of paintings which are reminiscent of the coast line.โ€ We also spotted a couple American flag paintings on Coleโ€™s Facebook page that look inspired by Jasper Johnsโ€™ iconic flag series.

The Starving Artist Party begins at 7 p.m. You can find out more on Cole’s Facebook page at facebook.com/morgancoleart
