Jazz musician Lee Barbour has been busy lately creating music for a documentary, movie, and reality show, plus heβs starting his own company and releasing a record β so yes, Barbour is doing it all.
The documentary Christ Church Parish: 1706 into the 21st Century is about the Mt. Pleasant parish, one of the oldest churches in America, and itβs directed by Charleston-based, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Virginia Friedman. As for the locally produced reality show, Wild Billz is about a sailfish tournament in Florida and is slated to air early this year on Wild Billz TV.
Barbour also plans to launch Avant Garage soon, his own production company focusing on original music for film and TV, plus music licensing. As if thatβs not enough, heβs also found time to make a record with Gradual Lean, which is due out in a couple of months. Oh, and Barbour also scored the credits to the John Cusack and Robert De Niro film The Bag Man. What could be more exciting than all that? Avant Garageβs feline project, thatβs what.
βWeβll be launching in early 2015 with the release of the best cat video on the internet,β he says. Barbour has apparently filmed a local cat for years. βIβve edited [the shots] together, scored it, and am now working on an animation sequence where the cat has a dream in which he is picked up by aliens.β
