Overalls & Aprons — local filmmaker Thibaut Fagonde’s two-year effort to answer the question: “Is sustainability sustainable?” — will air at the Terrace Film Festival on Fri. March 13 at 7 p.m. as a one time special presentation.
The documentary, that CP covered in our fall issue of Dirt, examines the Charleston agriculture scene and the relationship between farmers, chefs, and purveyors. “The film looks at localized food systems from a radius of 100 miles, a community. It’s a story where it — a nucleus of farmers — is a dying art and asks ‘What we are doing to make them sustainable and viable?'” Fagonde says.
To answer those questions, Fagonde interviewed a host of familiar faces including chefs Mike Lata, Sean Brock, Kevin Johnson, and Craig Diehl, as well as purveyors such as Bulls Bay Saltworks owners Rustin and Teresa Goodin and Anson Mills founder Glenn Roberts.
Fagonde has stayed mum about whether he did, in fact, get the answer he was looking for, so no spoiler alert here. You’ll just have to see the film to find out for yourself. Tickets are $10. For more information on the Terrace Film Festival, click here.
