The crew for Danny McBride’s new HBO series “Vice Principals” is set to start filming in Charleston this summer and is looking for extras.
Casting director Tona B. Dahlquist, tasked with stocking “Vice Principals” sets with non-speaking extras for the comedy’s 18-episode run, says the show “tells the story of a high school and the people who almost run it.” In an interview with MTV, McBride called the show an “18-part miniseries,” which could mean that the world will only know one season of “Vice Principals.” But who knows, this is Danny effing McBride we’re talking about.
Dahlquist says the show is looking for “teens,” presumably to stand in as students, as well as adults to play school workers. Click over to the casting company’s Facebook post for details on how to apply.
Of course, this isn’t McBride’s first trip through the Carolinas. Most people know of his character Kenny Powers of “East Bound and Down,” the HBO series chronicling a washed up baseball player working to get back in the game. That show was filmed and set in Myrtle Beach and, coincidentally, Powers began the series as a substitute gym teacher.
McBride has been spotted around town as recently as last Saturday, but the casting call says filming will take place over the spring and summer.
