If you’ve got a stake in the local arts community, tomorrow’s Arts Matter Mayoral Summit at the Woolfe Street Playhouse (34 Woolfe St., downtown) is a great chance to share your thoughts and concerns with all six declared mayoral candidates: Ginny Deerin, William Dudley Gregorie, Leon Stavrinakis, John Tecklenburg, Paul Tinkler, and Maurice Washington. The summit runs from 9-11 a.m.

The summit is being organized by the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts, and will give each candidate a chance to field questions from a panel of arts leaders: James Braunreuther (Fine Arts Coordinator for Charleston County School District); Keely Enright (Artistic Director for Village Repertory Co.); and Josh Silverman (Founder and CEO of Jericho Advisors). Mike Gibbons, CEO of the Alliance, will moderate the session.

This is a free event open to any members of the public who wish to attend, but if you can’t make it tomorrow, you can still share your ideas with the candidates via the website ifyouweremayor.com. The site already has lots of great ideas — one of our current favorites is the proposal to build community kiosks that are also works of art in the upper Peninsula — so give it a read, and submit your own.
