Yesterday, Charleston Mayor Joe Riley announced the city was sponsoring the establishment of the Mother Emanuel Hope Fund, with an opening donation of $5,000 from city coffers. Boeing, which has a major assembly plant in North Charleston, announced it would donate $100,000 to the fund.

Here’s how you can donate directly to the city’s fund, which will go toward funeral and burial expenses for the nine worshippers killed at Mother Emanuel:

Mail a check (made out to Mother Emanuel Hope Fund) to:
Mother Emanuel Hope Fund
c/o City of Charleston
Post Office Box 304
Charleston, SC 29402

Walk into any Wells Fargo location in the U.S. and write a check to Mother Emanuel Hope Fund.

Text ‘prayforcharleston’ to 843-606-5995 or visit bidr.co/prayforcharleston

The city says donations to the Hope Fund are not tax-deductible.

The non-profit Palmetto Project has also established the “Reverend Pinckney Fund,” which will go toward helping initiatives at Emanuel AME Church.

Mail a check to:
Lowcountry Ministries – Reverend Pinckney Fund
c/o The Palmetto Project
6296 Rivers Avenue #100
North Charleston, SC 29406

Or visit palmettoproject.org.

Donations made to the Rev. Pinckney Fund through Palmetto Project are tax-deductible.
