Since Charleston is one of the oldest cities in America, it’s only fitting that the Holy City knows how to celebrate the birthday of this nation. And we’ve got plenty of events from family friendly festivals to cocktails for the adults. So put on your best red, white, and blue attire — that we know you planned out in advance — and celebrate in the name of America.

Celebrate at the 4th of July Festival in North Charleston with music, free children’s activities, food trucks, fireworks, and more.

Ring in the 4th at Summerville’s Red White and Blue on the Green.

Our regular beach view is going to be bursting with patriotism and a light show at Fireworks on Folly starting at 9:30 p.m.

Escape the crowds and traffic by paddling around Wambaw Creek for the 4th of July Freedom Paddle.

Join Southern Season for their Fourth of July Celebration. And while the kids are getting their face painted, sip on a brewski from one of the vendors for America.

Grab your yak and enjoy the fireworks display from the waterways behind Folly Beach at Full Moon Kayak Tours starting at 8 p.m.

Be sure to call to register if you want to spend the holiday at Sewee Visitors Center at their Independence Day Celebration starting at 10 a.m.

Chow down on some wings and have a beer at Independence Day Extravaganza at Wild Wings Mount Pleasant starting at 11 a.m.

Escape the excitement on the peninsula to enjoy the July Fourth SpiritLine Dinner Cruise. Boarding begins at 6:30 p.m.

It’s a bummer that flight deck tickets are sold out for Patriots Point 4th of July Bash starting at 4 p.m., but there’s still a party going on from the shore. Be sure to look your best, you might make an appearance on Fox News for their #ProudAmerica campaign.

Sip on cocktails at O-Ku, Macintosh, and Cocktail Club at Independence Day with the Indigo Road Restaurants.

Get the best view in downtown Charleston at the Aquarium with Sea Stars and Stripes.

Uncle Sam wants you — to enlist in a good time at the Uncle Sam Jam at Mount Pleasant Pier at 7 p.m.

Independence Day in the Park at Kiawah’s Night Heron Park from 6:30-10 p.m. is bound to be a good time for the whole family with live music, carnival games, train rides, and more.

If hotdogs and peanuts aren’t your go-to dinner for this holiday then dine out with Independence Day with Circa 1886 at 6 p.m.

Be reminded of the history behind Independence Day at Middleton Place’s Independence Day Celebration on Saturday and Sunday.
