Gnome Cafe, Charleston’s latest vegan eatery, hopes to open at 109 President St. by the end of this week. Owned by Saramel Evans and Sara Grimshaw, the restaurant will serve breakfast and lunch and we’ve got the first look at the menu, sans prices.

Gluten-free options in addition to veggie and tempeh choices make up the meat substitutes and it all looks like pretty standard vegan fare, with the exception of a hemp sausage biscuit. That’s a new one to us. Evans says the biscuits are made from hemp seeds, barley, and spices “to bring texture and flavor.” As for the sausage, Evans says the base is made from flour. “Everything is vegan. No animals are harmed in the making of anything,” she adds.
