King Street celebrates a new shop, Beckett Boutique, this Thursday, with treats, champagne and wine, and specially priced items. Co-owner of the shop Chelsea Karol, describes the store as “high-end women’s fashion that still has an achievable price.”

Karol worked retail in Boston before moving to Charleston, getting degrees from both Tufts University and Stanford, where she studied both fashion and business. Those interests came together in her new store.

“I worked retail my whole life,” says Karol, who’s originally from Boston. She’s also interested in art, which comes through in the store’s interior design, featuring pieces that Karol has hand-selected along with Beckett Boutique’s creative designer, Kristen Fehsenfeld.

While Karol takes credit for the store’s design, she says that clothes are selected based on what customers want, adding that Charleston women have “great taste.”

Karol is open to local artists and artisans adding their flair to her store and you can currently look forward to brands like Elizabeth & James, Alexis, Bella Luxx, Meli Melo, and more.
