Next Tues. Jan. 12 Megan Deschaine, bar manager at 492, will compete in San Antonio’s fifth annual Speed Rack Cocktail Competition. The battle pits female mixologists from around the country against one another while raising money for breast cancer research, education, and prevention. There Deschaine will be tested on her speed and technique while creating drinks, as well as her knowledge of over 70 cocktails.
To prep for the event, from now trhough Sun. Jan. 10, Deschaine invites cocktail-philes to join her at the bar at 492 where she’ll whip up drinks while guests quiz her on ingredients or time her while she makes them.
From 5-7 p.m. Thursday, and Sunday, guests will also receive special prices on drinks listed on the speed rack cocktail menu — $4.92, to be exact. Check back to hear if Deschaine makes it to the speed rack finals on May 22.
