Tomorrow’s the Charleston Marathon and if you’re like us, you’re stoked to see what kinda crazy people watching you can get done downtown. People wear costumes, man. If running makes ya snore, fear not, because Charleston is chock full of fun this weekend, from tonight’s collaborative concert at the Pour House to Saturday’s Taste of Folly to Sunday’s largest yoga class in town. Strap on your running shoes and grab some hydrating bevs — you’ll need them for whatever you get into.
Friday
Palmetto’s Loading Dock series features music from the Abigail Palmer Group and Forty Mile Detour. Food is available for purchase from Fauzia’s Kitchen and the fun starts at 6 p.m.
Catch a French flick at the MUSC Basic Science Auditorium at 7 p.m tonight. The Alliance Francaise Cine—club presents La Famille Belier, a film about a deaf family whose one daughter with hearing must make a tough decision.
Firetag’s sixth annual birthday bash kicks off at 8 p.m. at the Pour House — listen to jams from Aaron Firetag, Jordan Igoe, the Butternecks, and more.
Starting tonight (and lasting until Monday) you can shop Closet Case, a pop-up thrift shop at 4th Wall in Avondale, featuring clothes, furniture, and stuff from the set of HBO’s Vice Principals. Proceeds help families in need of clothing.
Midtown Productions presents Collected Stories, a play about the relationship between two writers, at 8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow.
Saturday
Get your yoga with a side of prose at Poses and Prose, a two-hour session on the mat with Stacy Peth, yoga instructor, and Cinelle Barnes, writer and educator. The event will be held from 3-5 p.m. at Charleston Community Yoga in West Ashley.
Head to Omar Shrine Temple from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for American Digger Magazine’s South Carolina Lowcountry Civil War show.
Today’s the Charleston marathon which starts downtown at 8 a.m. and ends whenever your legs get tired. Take the race in from the sidelines or sign up last minute at Burke High School.
Learn to be a beekeeper at this two-day course at MUSC. Class clocks in at 8:30 a.m.
Get your shop on at Gwynn’s Lafayette 148 Trunk Show from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Taste all that Folly has to offer at Taste of Folly, a food fest chock full of the good stuff on Center Street starting at 11 a.m.
Palmetto Brewing hosts a leukemia and lymphoma fundraiser from 2-7 p.m. with music by Jason and the Juggernauts and Taco Donkey. Tickets include food and one drink ticket.
