[image-2]Alarm bells may be going off about Shem Creek’s water quality, but the appeal of building a restaurant on the Mt. P waterway hasn’t diminished. Today Crave Kitchen & Cocktails owner Peter Woodman has announced that next month it will open The Mill Street Tavern at 508-B Mill St.

The restaurant is named after the Greenwich Mill which, according to the Mount Pleasant Historical website, was the first tidal mill in the world built by millwright Jonathan Lucas in 1793.

Mill Street Tavern will be run by Executive Chef Landen Ganstrom and will serve “Lowcountry favorites and weekly specials, highlighting local ingredients and flavors,” according to a press release.

The Mill Street Tavern will be open Mon.-Sun., 7 a.m – 2 a.m. serving breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as offering daily specials and signature cocktails. Expect the Mill Street Tavern to open in July.
