Charleston’s fancy food court, Workshop, has been flirting with pop-ups recently in the interest of showing off more of the local food scene. Pigeonhole, Jewish deli pop-up one weekend and Peruvian pop-up the next, has been doing a good job of this so far.
[content-4] This Sunday, the next pop-up arrives, and it’s a Jamaican effort headed by Andre McLaurin called Spice Ting. The downtown area has a serious lack of authentic Caribbean food, so this foray will work to fill in that vacancy. The main event is the jerk chicken grilled in the Big Green Eggs on the patio, and served alongside it will be coconut rice, pineapple salsa, and pickled cabbage.
It’s happening from 3 to 9 p.m. and there’s no extra price for admission. Come for the vittles, stay for the 99 cent Red Stripes and coconut liqueur.
