Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston Counties are all jam-packed with thriving arts programs that, at times, go unrecognized. That’s part of the reason the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts started Arts Matter Day, a new day of community giving, to be held on Tues. Sept. 12. You can learn more about some of the area’s art groups earlier than that, though.

On Fri. Sept. 1 from 3-5 p.m. you can stop by the Charleston Artist Guild (160 East Bay St.) to meet staff members from both South of Broadway’s theater, as well as from the forthcoming Daniel Island Performing Arts Center, before this September’s First Friday art walk. It’s like one big, awesome mash up of this city’s arts. What’s not to love?
