At about 10:15 a.m. yesterday, YouTube super-vlogger Casey Neistat landed at Charleston International Airport. He was on a quest from New York to see the eclipse from the path of totality.
After a trip to College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library, some (definitely illegal, but pretty neat looking) drone flights over King Street, and an impromptu weather-watching sesh at the Upper King Starbucks (bleh), Neistat hightailed it west on I-26 in search of clear skies where he could observe the total solar eclipse.
Neistat has 7.7 million followers on YouTube and is a wildly-influential personality among the growing ‘vlogger’ set (stupid word, I know). A filmmaker by trade, Neistat makes a living traveling the world for work and play, piecing together his exotic travels into artfully-shot, energetic narratives.
It’s not exactly clear where Neistat ended up watching the eclipse, it looks like he detoured off I-26 at some point and chatted with a flat-brimmed park ranger near Lake Marion.
