Charleston Music Hall has more than just music, ya know. Recently the Hall has featured art exhibits in its upstairs lobby, bringing a free-and-open-to-the-public display of art to a multipurpose venue.
Its latest show, Spruill, with works from Alex Waggoner, opens on Wed. Nov. 1 with a reception held from 6-8 p.m. The works will be on display through Fri. Dec. 1., Mon.-Fri., 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
A graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in painting and printmaking, Waggoner specifically focused on the road, Spruill Avenue, that connects Charleston’s peninsula with North Charleston. She says, “Through this exploration of architectural individuality on Spruill, I aim to encourage a thoughtful dialogue concerning Charleston’s historical significance and the impact of gentrification.”
