Law enforcement agencies have released a sketch of a possible person of interest related to a reported sexual assault last week on the College of Charleston campus.
According to a SLED spokesman, state agents responded to the College of Charleston campus, following an alleged criminal sexual assault that took place in a residence hall around 2 a.m. last Friday morning. CofC’s Department of Public Safety later released a campuswide announcement, saying the “female survivor was in her room at residence hall when she heard a knock on the door. She opened the door and the suspect forced his way inside and sexually assaulted her. Suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.”
In conjunction with Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry, the college Public Safety Department and SLED have released a drawing of a person of interest in the case. He is described as a college-aged white male, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, with a medium build and dark brown hair. He was last seen on Oct. 27, between midnight and 2:15 a.m. in a residence hall on St. Philip Street, north of Calhoun Street.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or the person of interest, is asked to contact SLED Special Agent Virginia Fowler at (803) 608-7435 or the college’s Department of Public Safety at (843) 953-4998 or fill out a silent witness form online.
Additionally, anyone with information may contact Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at (843) 554-1111 to provide a tip. A reward is available for any information leading to the identification of a suspect.
