Local nonprofit HEART debuts its latest project, Heart Radio Lab, on Sat. Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at Redux Contemporary Art Center (1056 King St.).

HEART is a local initiative providing art and theater mentorships and community engagement for adults with special needs who want to develop and identify as artists.

Heart Radio Lab is the theatrical choir HEART and HEART’s hired artist mentor, Quenby Keisler, has worked with this year, which includes participants in its Artist Mentor Program.

The aim is to present an annual theatrical choir performance, beginning with this year’s Love Frequency 2017, featuring songs by the Queen, the Flaming Lips, Macklemore, Jeff Buckley, and more.

The backing band includes local musicians Sam Sfirri (keyboards), Joel Hamilton (bass), Ian Sanchez (saxaphone), Mitchell Davis (guitar), and Raymond Caulder (drums). Other veteran local artists include vocalists Mel Walker, Leah Suarez, and Jayne Anne Ballentine.

Tickets are $5 online or $10 at the door. For tickets or more info, go to heartsc.org.
