On Sat. Feb. 9, the South Carolina Barbeque Association (SCBA) is hosting an all-day class in Columbia to train new barbecue judges.

The class will be an all day event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the recreation hall at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1715 Bull St.) in downtown Columbia.

The seminar is the first step of five, designed to set you on the path to becoming a full-fledged Certified Barbeque Judge.

To qualify to participate in the Certified Judge Seminar, sign-up to join the SCBA, starting at $35 a year, plus and additional cost of $50 for the class.

Completing the seminar will earn you the title of SCBA Novice Judge.

To receive the SCBA Certified Judge status and accompanying apron, you will apprentice under novice instructors at four different SCBA-sanctioned events
