Rep. Jim Clyburn, in an interview with the P&C, called U.S. Sen. Tim Scott’s “Opportunity Zone” proposal “BS” and “a bunch of smoke and mirrors.” He instead prefers his own 10-20-30 proposal, in which 10 percent of government funds would go to counties where 20 percent or more of residents have lived below the poverty line for more than 30 years. The plan is also favored by Democratic presidential nominees Bernie Sanders and Cory Booker, though Booker has praised Scott’s proposal too. Source: P&C
