Taco Boy at Folly Beach and Wiki Wiki Sandbar will trade locations this fall in attempt to “maximize capacity for each concept,” a press release said. Taco Boy, currently located at 15 Center St., will move to the 6,500 square-foot space at 106 E. Ashley Avenue, and Wiki Wiki Sandbar will take over the original Taco Boy, which opened in 2006.
“It may seem like a crazy idea, but it’s actually a return to how these restaurants were both conceptualized when we added the second business [Wiki Wiki Sandbar] in 2018,” said Karalee Fallert, founder and partner of Taco Boy at Folly Beach and Wiki Wiki Sandbar. “The opportunity to reimagine our first Taco Boy and update the menu and service of both concepts feels like a giant gift, especially amidst the challenges presented by the pandemic.”
Wiki Wiki Sandbar’s last day of service at its current location will be Sunday. Next week, the East Ashley Avenue space will begin renovations to become Taco Boy — ownership expects the updates to be completed by late October. Taco Boy will continue to operate at Center Street until it debuts at its new location.
Wiki Wiki Sandbar will re-open at 15 Center St. in late November with updated options like local seafood, sushi, tiki drinks and more.
