Appeals court nixes absentee ballots’ witness requirement. A federal appeals court struck down (again) the state’s requirement that absentee ballots be signed by a witness. Mother of S.C. teacher who died of COVID-19 dies of coronavirus less than three weeks later. Shirley Bannister passed away from the coronavirus just weeks after her daughter, 28 year-old teacher Demi Bannister. After her daughter’s death, Shirley Bannister reportedly struggled to find someone who would give her a coronavirus test. Shirley Bannister worked at Midlands Tech where she taught the fundamentals of nursing and was described as “an angel on earth.” Source: The State
New bill would allow hospitality taxes to pay for flooding mitigation. A new bill pushed by Charleston County legislators and passed in the Statehouse would allow hospitality taxes to be used to mitigate flooding. Aerosols could be spreading coronavirus. Researchers are studying how just infectious the coronavirus aerosols are. Aerosols are tiny droplets of water expelled when we talk, sing, shout, cough, more like cigarette smoke than spit. Previously, researchers thought only the larger droplets were infectious.
