A virtual panel this weekend will examine the toll of hate crimes in our communities. “Together We Heal: Survivors of Hate,” is scheduled for this Sunday at 4 p.m. via Zoom.
Hosted by Stamp Out Hate S.C., the event features a panel made up by those impacted by hate crimes at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue, Charleston’s Emanuel AME Church and Orlando’s Pulse Nightclub.
Attendees will hear from Beth Kissileff from Pittsburgh, Mother Emanuel’s Willi Glee and Brandon Wolf, a survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, as they discuss how hate crimes impact individuals and the communities as a whole.
The event will be moderated by S.C. Rep. Wendell Gilliard.
Those interested in attending will need to register in advance online to receive the Zoom link.
Stamp Out Hate S.C. is a group of nonprofits and other advocacy groups, including the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Charleston, Alliance for Full Acceptance and many more.
The coalition has been advocating for the passage of a hate crime law in South Carolina, one of only three states without such legislation.
