The Charleston Restaurant Foundation (CRF) announced that the 38th annual Lowcountry Oyster Festival will take place at Boone Hall Plantation as planned on Sunday, Jan. 31 with additional safety precautions due to the pandemic. Tickets are limited and available for purchase online.
In a press release, CRF said that this year’s festival will “include live music, wine, a selection of domestic and imported beers, a children’s area and a food court showcasing a variety of local restaurants.” Masks are required, and this year’s festival will be cashless due to COVID-19.
The event is an annual attraction in Charleston, as locals and tourists alike come together to celebrate the Southern tradition. It was named one of the “top 20 events in the Southeast” by the Southeastern Tourism Society, and a portion of proceeds will go to local charities. The 2020 festival benefitted charities like the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, Ronald McDonald House of Charleston, Shriners Hospitals for Children and The Culinary Institute of Charleston, among others.
