South Carolina health officials reported more than 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 in one day for the first time on Saturday.
Reporting data as of Dec. 30, 4,219 new cases of coronavirus were reported statewide on Saturday, the highest single-day total to date since the pandemic began in March 2020.
Out of 12,722 tests reported, nearly one-third of tests, 33.2%, came back positive, according to the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.
As of Saturday, nearly 2,000 patients are hospitalized for COVID-19 in South Carolina, roughly 22.79% of all inpatients in the state.
As of today, 112,125 vaccines have been received in South Carolina, and 41,508 have been administered, according to DHEC.
