Root Note food truck will take over Micho — located at the Pour House on James Island — on Mondays and Tuesdays starting Jan. 25, serving dishes like smoked pork tacos, green curry poutine, tamarind-chili wings and more. Chef Josh Taylor’s menu will be available for dine-in on the Pour House deck, and takeout/delivery orders can be placed online, Micho co-owner Tina Schuttenberg told the City Paper on Friday.
The chef has been popping up around the Lowcountry since 2017 — recently, he’s served food at Low Tide Brewing, Two Blokes Brewing, Munkle Brewing and other local destinations. Last spring, Taylor used his spare time to make hundreds of meal boxes for MUSC frontline workers after getting requests from customers who wished to donate in the form of hot meals.

“We feel strongly that during times of hardship, the Charleston community has a beautiful way of uniting and helping one another,” Taylor told the City Paper in May. “We are fortunate to have a loyal and supportive customer base that wanted to give back to their community.”
At Micho, Taylor will offer a special menu featuring three types of tacos and five larger plates, including the Root Note burger, topped with Thai chili-glazed bacon and green curry Duke’s Mayonnaise.
“Chef Josh Taylor will be bringing his menu of American street food with Southeast Asian flavors,” Schuttenberg said. “His menu is heavily influenced by travel. Root Note includes the flavors and spirit of those adventures in a friendly and recognizable way.”
Root Note will start serving food at Micho on Monday, Jan. 25, and its weekly residency will last through the end of February. For more information, visit rootnotefoodchs.com.
