What you need to know: South Carolina continues to experience a delay in Johnson & Johnson vaccine shipments. The state Department of Health and Environmental Control told WIS-TV that shipments of J&J vaccines have not arrived in S.C. since May 3 and are not expected to arrive next week either.

The delay comes after news that 62 million vaccine doses from the Emergent BioSolutions factory in Baltimore — the same plant that destroyed 15 million J&J doses earlier this year as a result of cross-contamination — may have been contaminated.

S.C. currently has 42,849 doses of J&J in inventory according to DHEC, but it’s unclear when the state might receive new shipments.
