Rodney Scottโs BBQ owner Rodney Scott will join Ollie Gates (Gates Bar-B-Q in Kansas City) and Meathead Goldwyn (author of Meathead: The Science of Great Barbecue and Grilling) in the 2021 class of inductees to the Barbecue Hall of Fame. An induction ceremony will take place Sept. 18 during the 41st American Royal World Series of Barbecue at the Kansas City Speedway.
Itโs been a big year for Scott since he was selected as one of nine semi-finalists to enter the Hall of Fame in May 2020. The acclaimed pitmaster was featured on Netflixโs Chefโs Table and debuted his very own cookbook in March.
Three individuals are inducted into the Hall of Fame each year, along with multiple legacy inductees.
โElection into the Barbecue Hall of Fame is barbecueโs top honor and recognizes the significant contributions to the advancement of barbecue,โ a press release said.
This year’s legacy inductees include Lyttle Bridges of Red Bridges Barbecue in Shelby, N.C., and Arthur Bryant, the namesake of the legendary Kansas City, Missouri, restaurant.
