The Charleston Music Hall is the first music venue in the area to enact an entry policy for all shows as COVID-19 cases spike statewide. Starting Sept. 5, Music Hall guests will have to show vaccination cards or a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of entry.
Other South Carolina venues have begun implementing similar policies including the Peace Center in downtown Greenville and New Brookland Tavern in West Columbia, but this is one of the first examples of vaccination proof protocols seen in Charleston thus far.
“We are working to ensure we are reopening in the safest way possible for staff, artists, crew, fans, and communities at large,” the Music Hall website reads. “We believe it’s much better to take these precautions so we can enjoy shows together rather than go back to no shows at all.”
Charleston Music Hall was closed from March to November 2020 during the shutdown and has implemented a number of COVID-19 policies since re-opening including an ongoing mask requirement during shows, limited capacity and socially distanced seating. Now, the venue is taking it one step further.
Individuals under the age of 12 and unvaccinated guests over the age of 12 are required to take a diagnostic test (PCR or antigen tests will be accepted) within 72 hours before entering the building and bring the results to the venue. At-home test results will only be accepted if you’re able to print the results from a medical platform.
All event staff will also be required to follow the same policies prior to an event.
Individuals who have received their vaccine are not considered fully vaccinated until two weeks after their second shot.
Be aware that additional COVID-19 regulations may be implemented on a show-by-show basis. Check the event and ticketing pages for more information. Guests who purchase tickets will also be reminded of the policies in emails prior to the show.
