We Are Family is a grassroots nonprofit that provides affirming programs for LGBTQI+ and ally youth in the Lowcountry. Its programs include social support groups for kids and parents, as well as mental health, financial assistance and community education. We Are Family is also passionate about coalition-building for Gender and Sexuality Alliances (GSAs) in tri-county middle and high schools. Executive director Domenico Ruggerio can often be found at We Are Family’s Closet Case Thrift Store on Reynolds Avenue, jamming out to tunes with the rest of the team.
