Happy Earth Day, y’all! To celebrate, the Charleston Climate Coalition teamed up with Sustainable OCean Alliance Charleston for the Tour de Earth Day on Sat., April 23.

Participants will embark on a bike ride through downtown Charleston while learning about environmental issues impacting the area. The event takes place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and leads riders to various downtown green spaces while also offering educational talks, opportunities to view art and other activities. Food and drinks will also be provided along the way.

Partner stops for the event include Charleston Parks Conservancy, Enough Pie, Friends of Gadsden Creek, Green Heart Project, Eastside Community Development Corporation and Alliance for Planet Earth among others.

Participants will need to bring their own bikes and are encouraged to decorate their bikes for Earth Day. The tour will end at Corinne Jones Park, where eco-friendly prizes will be given out for the bike costume contest.

If you’re in need of a bike for the event, you can reach out to charlestonclimatecoalition@gmail.com in advance to request a borrowed bike for the event.

Riders will meet at Harmony Field at 201 President St. Ticket prices range from $1-$50. Sign up through actionnetwork.org.

For those interested in arriving early, you can participate in the South Carolina Aquarium and Friends of Gadsden Creek litter sweep at 10 a.m. For this portion of the event, sign up here.
