Non-alcoholic pop-up shop Sèchey announced Aug. 26 on Instagram that it would be closing its doors at 420 King St. and relocating. The shop opened earlier this year on Feb. 14. But, the recent closure hasn’t stopped owner Emily Heintz from continuing her mission of offering non-alcoholic spirit options.

According to a story in The New York Times Tuesday, Heintz has expanded the Sèchey brand to New York City, debuting a new bottle shop on Wednesday in Manhattan’s West Village at 632 Hudson St.

“[Alternative spirits] just remove that judgment and the ability for people to say stuff like, ‘Why aren’t you drinking?’” Heintz told City Paper during a January interview. “There’s a lot of stigma and we want to get away from it when someone says they don’t drink.”

Charlestonians will still be able to get their hands on Sèchey’s non-alcoholic spirits, though.

The Charleston branch will temporarily be located at The Jasper at 310 Broad St. “while we’re in the process of building out our flagship Charleston location,” Elise Nelson, Sèchey’s creative director, told City Paper Tuesday.

The new Charleston location is expected to open-mid October, Nelson said.
