The owners of the popular Red Orchids China Bistro restaurant in West Ashley announced Monday it will close later this month — a development brought on by, well, development.
“Unfortunately due to the construction plans of the shopping center, a shortage of staff and skyrocketing inflation, we are saddened to share the news that our last day of service will be April 23, 2023,” according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Developers of the Ashley Landing shopping center announced plans in February to redevelop the shopping center including moving the existing Publix grocery store to the other side of the property, which would impact several businesses such as Red Orchids. The location of the current Publix will be turned into multifamily housing.
