Reports taken from Oct. 10 to Oct. 15

If you can’t say something nice …

A Charleston police officer on Oct. 14 saw a downtown man cross Calhoun Street without using a crosswalk. According to a police report, the officer advised the man to use a crosswalk next time, to which the man replied, “You’re a little bitch.” A short exchange later, and the man was arrested for public intoxication.

A lot of effort

Security footage revealed a North Charleston man sneaking into a fenced area Oct. 14 behind an auto shop on Ashley Phosphate Road, cutting the lock off a container and taking a single tire from it. The video showed him loading the tire into his car and driving off. This isn’t a suggestion, but why go to all the trouble for a single tire? Surely he could have fit more in his car.

Let’s take this over there

North Charleston police on Oct. 13 attempted to stop two North Charleston men from fighting near Windsor Hill Boulevard. The men reportedly stopped fighting, only to move their altercation to Ashley Phosphate Road shortly thereafter. Police then charged both men with assault and breach of peace.

Too bad

A Charleston man on Oct.10 told Charleston police that someone cut connection wires to two auxiliary lights off of the front of his truck and stole them. And yes, crime is wrong, but come on — we’ve all thought about doing this after an obnoxious pick-up blinds us from behind on the road with its high-beams.

Not often

North Charleston police on Oct. 15 responded to a Northwoods Boulevard restaurant where an employee accused a pair of customers of being rude and demanded they be barred from the restaurant. After an investigation, police learned the employee was the aggressor and the customers were just trying to get their food and leave. Guess sometimes the customer really is right. Sometimes.
