U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, the South Carolina Republican who struggled in polls and tried to make his presidential campaign about hope, bowed out of the 2024 race Sunday night saying it was not his time. He also said he didn’t intend to endorse anyone.

“I think the voters, who are the most remarkable people on the planet, have been really clear that they’re telling me, ‘Not now, Tim,’” Scott said Sunday night on a Fox News show hosted by his friend Trey Gowdy, the former Spartanburg congressman with whom he wrote a book.  “I don’t think they’re saying, Trey, ‘No.’ But I do think they’re saying, ‘Not now.’”

Scott reportedly gave little indication that he planned to suspend his campaign, even to his staff.

Meanwhile another South Carolinian, former Gov. Nikki Haley, is soaring with expectations that she can be the alternative to former President Donald Trump.  Haley is set to launch a $10 million ad campaign to topple challenger and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. She also has momentum, according to this article.
